Grrrr...
I had forgotten what it feels like to sit in a room full of people and watch them recoil in disgust at a sexuality that looks like mine. The implication that I am disgusting and broken by patriarchy stings much more in real life, particularly when it comes from people I otherwise like and respect.

Want to swap the people we know? I had an experience yesterday which kind of made me realise why people do think that way automatically. In my class people first defended "alternative" sexualities but then went on to defend rape (particularly of people underage) using the same arguements (a touchy topic with me obviously). When the two are conflated those trying to be all academic and postmodern I'm not really surprised that the general public then freak out about it. The two are so linked in the public conciousness...
